What is Spray Foam Insulation? +/-

Spray foam insulation is a seamless, spray applied insulation and air sealing system. It is ideal for any residential, commercial, refrigerator, agricultural or HVAC system application.

What is Spray Foam Insulation made of? +/-

Spray foam insulation is made of environmentally friendly urethane. Our foam does not have any formaldehyde or asbestos.

How is it Installed? +/-

It is sprayed by a certified trained installer into the open cavity of walls, ceilings and roof structures after the plumbing and electrical systems are put in place.

What are its Advantages? +/-

Spray foam insulation does more then just insulate. It stops allergens, pollen and any other pollutants from entering your home. Your home will be quieter and the air you breath will be cleaner and more comfortable. Spray foam insulation reduces energy and fossil fuel consumption. It also reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Spray foam insulation remains rigid and does not settle or sag. This means it adds structural strength to a house while adding very little weight. It’s solid by nature, provides sound proofing, is insect resistant and seals cracks from unwanted gas and odor penetration.

How long has this type of insulation been in use? +/-

For nearly 60 years, foam insulation has been used in commercial and industrial applications. It is used to fill things such as sofa cushions, car dashboards and carpet padding. Its high r-value per inch has made it ideal for refrigerator walls, tanks and modern day home building practices.

How long does Spray Foam Insulation last? +/-

This type of insulation lasts indefinitely. It will never break down or decompose.

Is it more expensive than traditional Fiberglass Insulation? +/-

Traditional fiberglass has nowhere near the benefits of spray foam insulation. While spray foam may cost more up front, it pays for itself through energy savings, air quality improvements, air/moisture/mold management, noise reduction and overall strength improvements.

How long does it take to Install? +/-

Typical house can be done in one day or less.

Can I apply it myself? +/-

Applying spray foam insulation to your own home is not recommended. Proper installation requires complex equipment and an experienced installer.

Is Spray Foam Insulation a good Sound Proofing Material? +/-

Yes, it reduces noise from outside sources by sealing cracks and gaps.

Does Spray Foam Insulation support Bacteria or Fungal growth? +/-

The product does not support bacteria or fungal growth because it contains no food value.

Are there any Fire Protection Requirements? +/-

Spray foam insulation does meet the legal requirements for flame and smoke. In most cases it must also be covered with a 15 minute thermal or ignition barrier after insulation.

Does sealing my house cause Air Quality issues? +/-

Most home engineers and building scientists advise that you should seal the structure as tight as possible and provide ventilation through your air conditioning and heating system. This allows you to control the comfort level and indoor air quality as desired.

How does Spray Foam Insulation control Moisture Movement and Condensation? +/-

Moisture issues within a home are usually the result of warm air (which holds more moisture) coming into contact with cold air, creating condensation. Spray foam eliminates any air movement through a wall cavity; in turn there is no chance of any moisture being created due to convention.

Does Spray Foam Insulation meet Building Code expectation? +/-

Yes it does. It exceeds the expectations of both the National and Ontario Building Codes.

How long does Spray Foam Insulation take to Cure? +/-

The installation process is almost instantaneous. The product has a cure time of 24-48 hours. Once cured, there are zero emissions.

What is R-Value? +/-

R-Value insulation ratings are used to measure how well a particular insulation resists heat flow or thermal transfer.

What is the difference between Open-Cell and Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation? +/-

Open-Cell is incredibly effective as a sound barrier. It maintains its performance with no loss of R-Value over time. It also maximizes air leakage and seals the buildings envelope to optimal air tightness. Closed-Cell polyurethane spray foam is one of the most efficient insulation materials commercially available. It provides one of the highest R-Values and is a highly effective air barrier with very low moisture vapor permeability. It’s commonly used in tighter spaces.
